  18. There was general agreement that the focus of the proposed working group
  19. should be to refine and extend the existing IMAP2/IMAP2bis protocol,
  20. hopefully without breaking the installed base of IMAP2-capable software.
  21.  
  22. The wording of the proposed working group Charter was deemed generally
  23. acceptable.
  24.  
  25. A list of desired IMAP extensions was made.  Many of the proposed
  26. features appear to be within the scope of the CMU IMSP (Interactive Mail
  27. Support Protocol) project, rather than IMAP. Also, some are likely to be
  28. incompatible with current software.

  30. It was clear that disconnected operation, ala DMSP/PC-Mail, was a very
  31. high priority.

  39.    o Shared mailbox per-user state (like a .newsrc, but for mailboxes)

  43.    o Minimal confidentiality (XOR with shared secret)
  44.    o Test assertion that PEM does not affect IMAP

  51. The proposed Charter, with minor modifications, will soon be submitted
  52. to the IETF Application Area Directors for endorsement and forwarding to
